Drive the robot & read its sensors¶
Everything here happens in the app.physicar tab. Open it from the file explorer.
Drive it¶
- Use the on-screen controls or the keyboard (arrow keys) — the robot moves immediately, in the simulator and on the real robot alike.
- Speed and steering are the robot's two basic outputs — the same values your code
will publish later on
/speedand/steering.
Read the sensors¶
| Panel | What it shows | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | live camera frames (pan/tilt adjustable) | vision models, line following |
| Lidar | 360° distance scan | obstacle detection, SLAM |
| IMU | orientation & acceleration | balance, turns |
| Odometry | position & heading estimate | navigation |
- Reset (bottom of the sensor column) puts the robot back to the start pose — in the simulator it teleports the virtual car; use it whenever a run ends badly.
VNC and MYAPP¶
- VNC shows the robot's own desktop — the ROS 2 course happens there. The RViz button on the desktop panel (bottom left) opens RViz.
- MYAPP shows your own robot web app once one is running (build one). While a Racing course runs, its live view borrows this panel.
Check: drive forward, watch the camera and lidar react, hit Reset → you've covered the whole loop.
