Trademark Policy

"PhysiCar", "PHYSICAR AI", "AI CASTLE", the PhysiCar logo and their transliterations (including "피지카") are trademarks of AI Castle Inc. (the "Marks"). This policy explains how the Marks may be used. It applies together with Section 6 of the PhysiCar Community License. Copyright licenses for our software do not include any trademark license.

Why we have this policy

Our robot software and simulator are published in source form. Anyone may study and modify them within the license. The Marks are how students, teachers and buyers tell a genuine PhysiCar robot and the PhysiCar platform apart from copies. Protecting them is what lets the software stay open to read and modify.

What you may do without asking

  • Refer to us truthfully. Say that your course, class, event, competition, project or work uses PhysiCar robots or the PhysiCar platform: "PhysiCar robotics class", "built for PhysiCar", "runs on the PhysiCar platform".
  • Keep original names in a fork. If you fork or modify our software under the license, you may keep the original repository, package, module and file names, as long as the fork is identifiable as yours (for example by the hosting service's fork attribution or the modification notice the license requires). You must not state or imply that we make, endorse, certify or sponsor your modified version.
  • Describe compatibility of your own works. For applications, models, worlds, curricula and other works you create for use with genuine PhysiCar robots or the platform, you may say they are "for PhysiCar" or "compatible with PhysiCar".
  • Link to us with a plain-text name.

What you may not do

  • Use a Mark, or anything confusingly similar, in the name of your product, service, company, app, repository organization, domain name or social media account.
  • Use a Mark to market hardware that is not a Genuine PhysiCar Product, or to present such hardware as "PhysiCar compatible", as intended to run PhysiCar software, or as a PhysiCar clone, alternative or replacement.
  • Use our logos, or alter or combine a Mark with other words or designs to create a new mark.
  • Use a Mark in a way that suggests we endorse, certify, sponsor or are affiliated with you when we are not.
  • Register a Mark, or anything confusingly similar, as a trademark, company name or domain anywhere.

Distributors and partners

Authorized distributors and partners use the Marks only as set out in their written agreement with us. Authorization to distribute does not by itself make any product a Genuine PhysiCar Product.

If you want to use a Mark in a way not covered above, or you are unsure, write to [email protected] describing the use. We answer quickly and we say yes to most educational uses.
